Stretching, the most neglected part of the workout for most people. We often get caught up in cardio and strength training and forget an important aspect, stretching. Are you a chronic “sitter” where you spend most of your day sitting? Maybe you have an office job and then you go home and sit to relax. Sitting can cause atrophy in the glutes and hamstrings, decreasing mobility and causing pain, as well as compromising posture and causing pain in the back. If this is not reason enough to stretch, consider this: Stretching:

  • Decreases muscle stiffness and increases range of motion
  • May reduce your risk of injury
  • Helps relieve post-exercise aches and pains
  • Helps reduce or manage stress
  • Increases muscular relaxation
  • Promotes circulation

With all of these benefit combined, stretching can take your physical fitness to the next level. Try to stretch 5 times per week, holding each stretch for 30 seconds. Stretch each muscle group in the body toreap the benefits! Stretching could be your new key to success!
